Walk Saint David is a mission involving churches across three counties - starting in West Carmarthenshire, then covering the whole of Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. Local church leaders have invited Through Faith Missions to co-ordinate it all and to invite every church to take part.
About TFM
Led for the past 34 years by the Reverend Daniel Cozens, an evangelist and Canterbury Six Preacher, TFM has co-ordinated hundreds of missions across Britain, including large-scale Walk missions like this. TFM offers the experience of their full-time staff, as well as the gifts brought by their full-time staff, as well as the gifts brought by their volunteer missioners. Over 4,000 men and women have worked in TFM teams to help local churches with their evangelism.
A Message From Daniel
The famous song “We’ll Keep a Welcome in the Hillsides” has the line ‘When you come home again to Wales’. I cannot say, as a Dorset man, that Wales is my home, but I’ve certainly preached there on many occasions, not least on our Walk mission along Offa’s Dyke in 1996. I think there is something special about the invitation to walk the Welsh Coast and we are looking forward (not backwards) to what God will do. We will be walking and preaching the Gospel as we have done in hundreds of places in the UK. It’s a marvellous opportunity, but I say now, ‘The harvest is plentiful, the labourers are few’. With the demand for these walks, our greatest problem is getting enough men and women to join us in bringing the Gospel. Would you please come?
Whatever the welcome is that we receive - and in Wales it can be warm indeed - our aim is to bring the Kingdom of God to the multitudes who lie outside, that they may ?nd in Christ “The Great Welcome” as they receive forgiveness, reconciliation and peace with God - what a wonderful invitation. What a marvellous opportunity.
What TFM offers
Every church in the mission area will be contacted by TFM.
A mission team (8-10 people, all men or mixed) can be with you for 4 or 8 days.
You in the local church plan the programme; the TFM team then work in partnership with you.
We provide training and support to help prepare for the mission week and ensure good follow- up.
All mission team members have training, their own church leader’s reference and CRB check. The team leaders are experienced missioners.
Behind Walk Saint David
A planning team made up of leaders from across the mission area is chaired by Canon Stuart Bell, Rector of Aberystwyth for 21 years, working with the staff of TFM. Denominational leaders have added their support.
“Mission is at the top of the church’s agenda and Walk Saint David emphasises our commitment to it”
The Right Reverend Wyn Evans, Bishop of St. Davids
“As a minister in Prestatyn some years ago I was involved with the ‘Walk of a 1000 Men’ along Offa’s Dyke. The local churches and the community benefitted greatly from the mission and I would encourage all the churches to be part of the Walk in Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire during the Autumn”.
Reverend Ifan Roberts, General Secretary, Presbyterian Church of Wales.
The Baptist Union of Wales is committed to Mission and Evangelism initiatives and is delighted to support the “Walk St. Davids” outreach in September to October 2010
Reverend Peter Thomas, General Secretary, Baptist Union of Wales
